Mission & Vision

Sumner Middle School staff believes our school should be a place where all students BELONG, recognize that they have the power to make positive CHOICES, experience SUCCESS every day, have FUN, and feel physically and emotionally SAFE.

At Sumner Middle we are committed to student learning:

We believe all students can and will learn when provided opportunities and time to meet their varied, individual learning needs. We focus our instruction and programs on student growth as we prepare all of our students to be well-prepared for high school and beyond.

At Sumner Middle we are committed to providing a safe and supportive climate:

We use our Guiding Principles (Success, Safety, Fun, Belonging and Positive Choices) to direct all of our daily decisions and programs.   We believe in recognizing and celebrating the many positive behaviors our students and staff demonstrate connected to our Guiding Principles through the use of positive office referrals, links, and student-of-the-month recognition.

One of the goals of Sumner Middle School is to ensure our middle school is a place where all students BELONG, recognize that they have the power of FREEDOM and CHOICES, experience SUCCESS every day, have FUN and feel physically and emotionally SAFE. To ensure the safety of all students and staff, please treat each other and all items on our campus respectfully.
