Chromebook Take-Home Information

All high school students may now take their Chromebooks home as part of Sumner School District’s new Chromebook Take-Home Program.

While all students in every grade use Chromebooks during class time to access the Internet, digital course materials and digital textbooks, secondary students now have the opportunity to continue learning with their digital device while at home.

The Chromebook Take-Home Program is a new enhancement of the district’s 1:1 Initiative, which provides all students and teachers access to digital resources for learning and teaching. Read more about the 1:1 Initiative.

Schools will distribute Chromebooks to students during the first two weeks of school. While students take responsibility over the care for their Chromebook, parents also have a role in this program. Watch a short video to learn more about the program and guidelines for how to help your child take care of their Chromebook.

Here are a couple of ways we’d like parents to be involved in this enhanced digital learning opportunity:

Digital device agreement
  1. Review the Chromebook Handbook for Secondary Students to understand rules, guidelines and parent/guardian responsibilities
  2. Log into Family Access at www.sumnersd.org/sms
  3. Click “Fill out Online Form” and follow the two-step process to complete the Digital Device Agreement

Chromebook coverage

Consider opting into the Chromebook Coverage Program, which lessens the financial burden if your child’s Chromebook is damaged or stolen. If you choose to purchase optional coverage for your child’s Chromebook, you may pay in person at your child’s school or online via Family Access following the steps below. The deadline to purchase Chromebook coverage is Sept. 14, 2016.
